At short notice we were
invited to bring some of juniors to play on the match court, but
mainly it seemed a good opportunity to introduce our juniors to top
level play and the England players that could do it. Unfortunately
the "Elite" seemed unable to mix, maybe next year?
What started as a wet dank night, with an earlier
accident on the Motorway which may have proved a challenging
journey to Thornbury leisure Centre, soon panned out to be a great
evening of competitive badminton. A big thank you to Karen, Annett
and Sam for a friendly welcome, and a very ably run friendly
tournament. Congratulation to Severn vale Juniors for gaining an
accreditation from Sport England and becoming a Badminton England
Premier Club. I don't think the result is that important, what is
important is that all our young players gained valuable experience
playing against an unknown quantity and a different venue (in our
case). We can all look forward to the return game in Keynsham.
A big thank you to the unsung hero's, Mums Dads
and carers, without them this could not have taken place.
Hard to believe this was our third friendly
against the Racketeers Junior BC, time certainly is flying. 12
players from each side, 2 games of singles and 2 games of doubles
for each player.
The first game is always the worst and most
games had quite a tentative start but that diminished once the
juniors relaxed into the event. Well done everyone, and thanks to
Penny and Sue for organising their team for the journey over to us.
